INDEPENDENT TRANSMEDIA:
THE RISE OF STORY WORLDS, SHARED UNIVERSES & OPPORTUNITIES IN EUROPE

A talk with Jeff Gomez
21.03 / 4:30 PM CET

With growing interest in entertainment franchises and streaming opportunities for audiences in Europe, it is time to examine successful models for the development and production of shared universes and multi-platform story worlds. Jeff Gomez, CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment is one of the world's leading experts in the extension of blockbuster intellectual properties across multiple media platforms. He has worked on Pirates of the Caribbean, Transformers, and Avatar, and is currently producing the global relaunch of Ultraman.

In this exclusive talk, he will explain the decentralization of the broadcast medium, and how carefully crafted "story worlds" are rising to draw the attention of both global and niche audiences. He will outline Hollywood's model for successful "shared universe" development, such as Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and how he has applied these transmedia storytelling techniques to television, independent films and documentaries. Now familiar with international markets, Mr. Gomez will also discuss how these models can be leveraged to serve the transforming media landscape in Europe.
