Preseted as Works in Progress at SOFIA MEETINGS, "ROUNDS" won the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Actress and CINEUROPA Award

Congratulations to to the cast and crew of "В кръг/Rounds", presented as Works in Progress at SOFIA MEETINGS which World premiere was at 25th Sarajevo Film Festival!

Irini Jambonas won the HEART OF SARAJEVO FOR BEST Actress and the film, directed by Stephan Komandarev, was presented also with CINEUROPA Award!

Here's one excerpt from's review, published by "Variety" several hours after the awards ceremony at Sarajevo Film Festival:
"Stephan Komandarev returns with another ambitious snapshot of Bulgarian society in flux, this time through the unreliable eyes of the police force...

...A palpable hit with audiences upon its premiere at the Sarajevo Film Festival — where it scooped the Cineuropa Award, as well as the Best Actress jury prize for hard-bitten ensemble standout Irini Jambonas — “Rounds” isn’t afraid to play quite broadly with its social messaging and emotional manipulations. There’s enough political conflict and character complication here to keep things interesting, however: Viewers looking for a clear condemnation or endorsement of the boys (and beleaguered women) in blue will come away dissatisfied. That slightly barbed populist streak could make “RoundsKomandarev’s most widely embraced film since his Oscar-shortlisted 2009 breakout “The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner.”
